UAV Electronics has been designing and producing navigation Electronics and Autopilots for Drones and Bait Boats since 2016. Whilst designing the electronic release systems for RC Boat fishing, very shortly the need arose for Quadcopter Drones, so we developed an electronic release for the DJI Phantom 2 Drone that was bolted to its underside. Having tested this electronic release we found that there were many drones being lost to the water due to the electronic release not releasing the line in time, or if there was a reel jam - the Drone essentially would fall from the sky as it was flying out the baits.
We began extensive research to try to develop something safer and more reliable and by chance we came across the Kite Clip release from a New Zealand website https://www.fishingtacklesale.co.nz/ which specializes in Kite and Drone Fishing Systems. The Kite Clip utilized was a very innovative but simple design that consists of two ball bearings pushing against each other with a spring behind them and the release tension could be adjusted with a set screw. Having purchased one from New Zealand we tested it extensively on our Quadcopters with great success and we immediately saw the benefits of using a tension release system for drone fishing.
After many designs and enormous testing - which still continues today, we designed a new Tension release system based on the tested Kite clip and which is integrated into our own designed super strong gimbal mounts built using state of the art 3D manufacturing Technologies, and thus the SkyClip mechanism was born.
What makes SKYCLIP different
Feeling the need to take the design one step further, SkyClip is the only tension mechanism which incorporates a calibrated Ball Plunger mechanism made from Stainless Steel. This provides a much more stable and quality manufactured tension mechanism which is extremely reliable, works flawlessly with precision every time, will not corrode and is precalibrated from the manufacturer.
By using this approach there is no need for the user to adjust the SkyClip all the time, but at the same time it will protect any drone while fishing by releasing the bait from the drone at the preset tension should there arise a problem.
